Bjorn takes lead into last day

Thomas Bjorn shot a 4-under 66 Saturday to take a two stroke lead heading into the final round of the BMW International Open.

Bjorn, who has missed the cut in his last three tournaments, is at 18 under through three rounds. Bernhard Langer and Richard Bland are tied for second after morning fog delayed play for three hours.

"Certainly with the Ryder Cup coming up, it's nice to see my game coming along," Bjorn said. "I feel comfortable again. It's been a while since I've been in the mix of things."

The Ryder Cup starts Sept. 27 at the Belfry in England.

Bjorn, who was the runner-up to Tiger Woods at the 2000 British Open, has finished no better than fifth this season and missed the cut at the PGA Championship two weeks ago.

"I haven't felt really comfortable since the middle of last year," Bjorn said. "I'm getting back to thinking right on the golf course again. That's a key for me."

Several other European Ryder Cup players who are struggling with their game had good rounds, including Langer and Paul McGinley. McGinley shot a 66, but is six back at 12-under 204.

A day after he had food poisoning, Langer shot a 67.

John Daly, the defending champion, broke out of his slump with a 65, leaving him at 13-under 205 after he barely made Friday's cut.

After shooting 70 on each of the first two days, Daly put together a solid round with eight birdies.

Daly complained about his confidence after missing the cut at the PGA Championship two weeks ago and hoped to break his slump at the BMW Open.

"I hit a lot of greens today," Daly said. "I needed this to get my confidence back. I don't know if it's going to put me in position to win, but it felt good."
