Forsyth & Lane lead
with opening 63's
Scotland's Alastair Forsyth
and Barry Lane of England are in a tie for the lead on 8-under-par as the opening
round of the Malaysian Open at Royal Selangor draws to a close.
They fired splendid rounds
of 63 to take a two-stroke advantage ahead of Argentina's Ricardo Gonzalez and
India's Harmeet Kahlon while Nick Faldo, placed third in Singapore last week,
was 3-under-par after a 68.
Forsyth, who missed out
by one place on retaining his card for the European Tour, started in blistering
fashion with four birdies in the opening six holes.
He went out in 32 and four
more birdies on his return saw him join Lane at the top of the leaderboard after
a bogey-free round.
Lane's round started and
finished brilliantly with an eagle at the 3rd and birdies at the 1st and 6th before
he ended the day with four consecutive birdies from the 14th.
Indian golf continued its
magnificent upsurge after Arjun Atwal's victory at the Singapore Masters last
weekend.
As well as Kahlon's 65,
Jyoti Randhawa was nicely placed on 5-under par through 12 holes.
Germany's Alex Cejka and
Ian Woosnam of Wales were nicely poised after 3-under-par rounds of 68.
