| Mednick
gains first tour victory Sweden's
Adam Mednick comprehensively won the European Tour's inclement-weather-marred
North West of Ireland Open at Ballyliffin Golf Club on Sunday when he closed with
four-under 68 to finish five shots in front of the field on a seven-under 281 This
after third-round leader Massimo Florioli had failed in his bid to make it three
Italian victories in four years, crashing out of contention with a four-over 76. Florioli's
compatriot, veteran Costantino Rocco, the leader in rounds one and two, shot a
par 72, but it was also not good enough to add a second North West of Ireland
title to the first he won in 1999. He
finished third on two under, a shot behind second-placed Scot Andrew Coltart,
who closed with a respectable three under 67 that indicated that the former Ryder
Cup player is getting his career back on track. Email
