Title
A third-round 69 has given
young Aussie Adam Scott a three-shot lead going into the last round of the Qatar
Masters.
Scott, 21, started the day
three shots ahead of the chasing pack and he ended it in exactly the same position
on 14-under-par.
He is now just one round
away from ending his early season slump in the best way possible at the Doha club.
The biggest challenge he
faces is from Frenchman Jean-Francois Remsey, who continued to be a model of consistency
with a 68 that has taken him to 11-under.
Three Britons are among
four players a further shot back tying for fourth. Of those, Nick Dougherty shot
a 68 while Colin Montgomerie and Stephen Gallagher each carded 69s.
The three players who started
the day tied in second place, Spaniard Jose Manuel Lara and Scandinavian duo of
Klas Eriksson and Anders Hansen, all fell back.
Eriksson's decline has been
most spectacular. After a blistering 66 to begin the tournament, he followed his
second round 70 with a disappointing 74 that leaves him tied in 17th.
At eight-under-par, Ian
Woosnam appears to be too far off the pace to be a serious threat in the final
round.
The Welshman slipped slightly
off the pace with a third-round 70 in a day when sub-70 scores littered the leaderboard.
