Garcia takes command Sergio
Garcia cemented his advantage in the Canarias Open de Espana on Saturday with
another blistering 67 to move to 14-under-par after three rounds. 'El
Nino' has a five-shot advantage over Italian Emanuele Canonica who could only
manage a 71 and now trails in the Spaniard's wake. Garcia
has been the model of consistency at the El Cortijo Club de Campo course with
scores of 67 and 68 before Saturday's equally impressive effort. The
22-year-old is looking for his first win since the Lancome Trophy in September
and more importantly a maiden victory on home soil. The
day, however, also belonged to new Spanish teen sensation Rafael Cabrera whose
67 puts him in third place, six shots behind Garcia. The
17-year-old was on course to set a new course record after making seven birdies
before dropping two shots at the last two holes. The
course record of 65 was set by David Gilford of Britain and Dane Soren Hansen
in the opening round. Email
