Jacobson leads into final day

Fredrik Jacobson of Sweden shot a 1-under-par 71 Saturday to take a one-stroke lead heading into the final round of the Algarve Open.

On a windy day, Jacobson had three birdies and two bogeys to go to 5-under 211 for the tournament.

"I just wanted to try and dig in today and stay close enough to have a chance tomorrow," Jacobson said. "I played real well on the front nine and hit every green where I had a lot of chances."

Overnight leader Greg Owen of England ballooned to a 76 and dropped to a second-place tie at 212 with countryman Brian Davis (71 Saturday).

Richard Sterne of South Africa and Marcel Siem of Germany were tied for third at 215. Sterne had the day's lowest score, 69, while Siem carded 76.
