Jaconson wins with late eagle

Fredrik Jacobson of Sweden eagled the 17th hole Sunday to win the Algarve Open, carding an even-par 72 to beat three players by a stroke.

Jacobson, the overnight leader, finished at 5-under 283 for his second victory in eight years on the PGA European Tour.

“It was one of those shots that might have a chance, but I was not sure whether I was going to make it,” Jacobson said.

Bradley Dredge, who won the Madeira Open last month, fellow Welshman Jamie Donaldson and Brian Davis of England were at 284.

Dredge and Donaldson each shot 68 Sunday, while Davis had a 72.
