Rain prevents any play on Saturday

Rain forced Champions Tour officials to call off play Saturday in the SBC Classic, reducing the event from 54 to 36 holes.

Gil Morgan took the lead Friday with a 7-under 65. John Schroeder opened with a 66, Tom Purtzer and James Mason shot 67s, and Sammy Rachels and Allen Doyle had 69s.

"I guess this is an advantage for me," Morgan said. "I'm in better position than the rest of the field. The course is going to be wet, so there will be a premium on hitting fairways and greens."
