No broken bones for Montgomerie
Colin Montgomerie did not fracture
his hand in the freak accident that forced him to pull out of the British Open
on Thursday.
But the seven-times European number one, who underwent an X-ray on Friday morning,
was referred on for an MRI scan to determine the extent of soft tissue damage.
Montgomerie, who suffered
the injury when he tripped over a step on his way to breakfast on Thursday, was
forced to withdraw from the tournament after seven holes, during which he struggled
to four over par.
The 40-year-old Scot has
also pulled out of next week's Irish Open.
