Olympia Fields back after 75 years

1 - Yardage: 577 Par: 5 VR Tour

The opening hole is a long, straight par 5. Deep fairway bunkers are a great peril on tee shots because it makes reaching the green in two virtually impossible. A decent drive leaves a long iron to a large green with devious, side-to-side breaks.

2 - Yardage: 402 Par: 4 VR Tour

A slight dogleg left leads to a green with a sharp right-to-left slope. A long iron, pitching wedge will be the game plan for most pros.

3 - Yardage: 389 Par: 4 VR Tour

Tee shots on this par 4 are played uphill onto a fairway that is traversed by a creek about 280 yards away. Most opt for a long iron. Huge oak trees line the fairway on both sides. A second shot is played to a shallow green with a lot of side slope.

4 - Yardage: 164 Par: 3 VR Tour

On the course's first par 3, the expansive, undulating green is fronted with equally sizable bunkers.

5 - Yardage: 440 Par: 4 VR Tour

A creek crosses the fairway twice on this par 4. From an elevated tee, a 3-wood or long iron would be suitable to take the creek out of play. The second shot is uphill to a mid-sized, elevated green.

6 - Yardage: 555 Par: 5 VR Tour

This par 5 arches left to right with a big hazard skirting a narrow fairway on the right. A sharp turn about 275 yards from the green renders reaching in two a tough task.

7 - Yardage: 212 Par: 3 VR Tour

The small green on this par 3 is protected on the front and right by a creek. Bunkers left and right will receive the mis-hits.

8 - Yardage: 210 Par: 3 VR Tour

The ever-present creek threatens on the right side of the fairway. The landing area is narrow and a large, horizontal bunker guards the left side. An elevated green slopes front to back.

9 - Yardage: 494 Par: 4 VR Tour

On this long, right-to-left dogleg, tee shots will be directed to the left, clear of the bunker on the right. A clean drive leaves a long iron to a huge, tilted green.

10 - Yardage: 441 Par: 4 VR Tour

A decent drive on this slight dogleg left will carry the fairway bunker and leave a short iron to a deep green with a back-to-front slant.

11 - Yardage: 468 Par: 4 VR Tour

A substantial dogleg leads to a large, sloping green that features a small collection area in the left rear. A mass of oak trees line the back of the green.

12 - Yardage: 458 Par: 4 VR Tour

This par 4 requires a blind tee shot over a hill, which must favor the left side in order to hit the green in two. The second shot is played to a small, well-protected green which is one of the course's trickiest.

13 - Yardage: 397 Par: 4 VR Tour

This short par 4 contains a narrow fairway in which a big ridge splits at about 275 yards from the tee. Most will opt for a long iron off the tee and a short-iron second shot into a heavily bunkered, small green.

14 - Yardage: 414 Par: 4 VR Tour

A very tight fairway here is lined with oaks and guarded by a bunker on the left. The shallow green has a hogback in the back left portion.

15 - Yardage: 187 Par: 3 VR Tour

A heavily guarded green is approached from an elevated tee. Getting up and down is difficult.

16 - Yardage: 451 Par: 4 VR Tour

From an elevated tee, the fairway leads slightly to the left. An accurate drive leaves a short- to mid-iron shot to a huge green.

17 - Yardage: 247 Par: 3 VR Tour

The long tee shot is uphill to a green protected left and right with big, deep bunkers. The green itself features undulating terrain that will claim its share of 3-putts.

18 - Yardage: 462 Par: 4 VR Tour

Played into the wind most days, the tee shot must thread two fairway bunkers. That accomplished, the second shot is a long one to a treacherous green with head-spinning breaks.
