Webster stretches lead to five points
Britain's Steve Webster extended his lead to five points over Australian left-hander Nick O'Hern after the third round of the ANZ Championship on Saturday.
Webster, who was one point ahead overnight, picked up +12 points in his five-under-par 67 to move to +39 overall in the modified stableford event co-sanctioned by the Australasian and European tours.
Australia's Scott Gardiner was third on +32 points, one ahead of fellow countryman and U.S. Amateur champion Nick Flanagan at the Horizons Golf Resort near Newcastle, about 200 km north of Sydney.
American Ricky Barnes, the 2002 U.S. Amateur champion, fired a 64 to collect +16 points for a total of +30. He was equal fifth with France's Thomas Levet, who gained +7 points for his 69.
Webster, 29, seeking his first win on the European Tour after finishing second four times, had seven birdies and two bogeys in his round.
Under the modified stableford system being used this week, players receive eight points for an albatross, five for an eagle, two for a birdie, none for a par, minus one for a bogey and minus three for a multiple bogey.
Britain's Laura Davies, the first woman to compete in an Australasian or European men's tour event, missed the cut on Friday after rounds of 75 and 83.
