Scott moves six clear of field

Australia's Adam Scott stretched his lead to six shots in the Booz Allen Classic third round on Saturday, firing a four-under-par 67 at the TPC at Avenel.

Scott, two overnight ahead overnight, rolled in a five-foot birdie putt at the last to finish at 18-under 195 and stay on track for his second PGA Tour title of the season.

The 23-year-old from Adelaide, playing in the Booz Allen for the first time, won the prestigious Players Championship in March.

American Olin Browne was alone on second, after dropping two shots in the last three holes for a 71, with compatriot Charles Howell III (72) a further stroke back in a tie for third with Arron Oberhaulser (68).

South Korea's Kevin Na reeled off seven birdies in a blemish-free round of 64 to vault 30 places up the leaderboard into a three-way share of fifth.

Level with Na at 10 under were 2002 U.S. PGA champion Rich Beem, who bogeyed five of the last six holes on his way to a 72, and South African Rory Sabbatini, after a 69.

Scott's lead after 54 holes was the second biggest in the tournament's history, fellow Australian Greg Norman having led by seven going into the final day in 1984.
