Mayfair, Perez & Bryant secure Open places

Americans Billy Mayfair, Pat Perez and Bart Bryant all secured British Open places following the Western Open on Sunday.

Mayfair fired a final round three-under 68 in Lemont, Illinois to finish fourth at eight-under 276 behind winner Jim Furyk, earning $240,000 to leave him second on the British Open money qualifying list behind Bryant, who did not play this week.

The top two earners from five designated PGA Tour events gain entry into the British Open set for July 14-17 at St Andrews.

"I wasn't, but I guess I am now," said Mayfair when asked about going to St Andrews.

"I guess I've got some decisions to make now.

"I was planning on playing next week at Moline (John Deere), and if I do, I don't know if I can get over there in time and all that, so I've got to make a couple of phone calls and make a couple quick decisions here."

Perez booked his spot as top finisher at the Western without an exemption after returning a final round one-under 70 to finish in a tie for fifth on seven-under 277.
