Bader, Young & Creamer tied for lead

Beth Bader has some company at the top of the leaderboard at the Corning Classic.

Bader carded a 3-under-par 69 but it was not enough to hold off Paula Creamer and Young Kim in Saturday's third round of the $1.3 million event.

One shot behind leader Charlotta Sorenstam after the opening round, Bader notched eight birdies for a 66 on Friday. She followed up with two birdies and and an eagle with one bogey for a three-round total of 16-under 200.

A member of the tour since 2001, Bader is in search of her first career win. Her previous best finish was a tie for fifth at the Giant Eagle LPGA Classic in 2002.

"Today was a little different story than the first few days," Bader said. "I knew it was going to be a little bit more difficult with the crowd and the media. I had a couple shaky holes, but I made some good recoveries out of trees.

"I will be nervous tomorrow but I was nervous today and handled myself well."

An eagle at the par-5 second got Bader going early but she had trouble building on the momentum. She bogeyed the sixth and her only other birdies came at Nos. 10 and 13.

Creamer is looking for her second win this season and jumped into a tie for the lead with a 66. The 20-year-old started Saturday alone in third at 10-under and made her move with a bogey-free round that included six birdies.

A winner at the SBS Open earlier this season, Creamer got off to a fast start with a birdie at No. 2. She added two more before the turn and three more coming in. Creamer capped her round with consecutive birdies at the 17th and 18th.

"I hit every fairway. I think I missed maybe three greens all day," Creamer said. "I gave myself plenty of opportunities. "I made some good putts. I made a good save on 16, and other than that it was a pretty easy round."

Kim had eight birdies on Friday and she added another five in the third round. The only thing between Kim and the outright lead is a bogey at the par-4 13th, her first bogey of the tournament.

Mi Hyun Kim, who won the SemGroup Championship at the beginning of May, is a shot off the pace at 15-under 201. She carded six birdies, including three in her first five holes.
