Saujana Golf and Country Club, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Saujana Golf and Country Club's Palm Course is dubbed "The
Cobra" amongst the local golfing fraternity. Opened in 1986,
its slick and undulating greens and meandering layout make it one
of the most famous championship courses in Malaysia.
Designed by Ronald Fream, the Palm Course offers some wonderful
challenges for the players. The second hole 172-yard par three,
which plays onto a two-tier green, is a test of nerves and accuracy
while the par four eighth hole, a dogleg left 411-yard challenge,
demands precision from off the tee.
A couple of the par fours, the fourth and the 17th are risk-reward
challenges where the greens are within driving reach from off the
tee and could well decide the championship. The par five 580-yard
18th is a great finishing hole at the Palm Course.
The Saujana Golf and Country Club is located on the fringe of Kuala
Lumpur and is about a 50-minute drive from Kuala Lumpur International
Airport. It will be hosting its eighth Maybank Malaysian Open Championship.
