Argentina's Ricardo Gonzalez fired a 3-under 69 and Englishman Marcus Higley shot a 70 Saturday to share the lead heading in to the final round of the Malaysian Open.
The pair share a three-round total of 7-under 209 and a two-stroke lead over Filipino Angelo Que, American Edward Loar and Prom Meesawat of Thailand.
After bogeying the first two holes, Higley rallied for five birdies, while Gonzalez made four birdies against just one bogey at the Saujana Golf and Country Club.
"I played last Friday in Dubai and made 65, so I came in here with some good confidence," Gonzalez said. "Tomorrow, I'll try to play like today and make some putts. I think another three under could be a good chance to win the tournament."
Higley, a surprise rookie, also hopes to maintain his solid play at the $1.29 million tournament, which is co-sanctioned by the European and Asian Tours.
"It feels good," he said. "I'm just going to keep doing the same things I have been doing the last few days and hopefully I will get the same results."
U.S. Open winner Michael Campbell of New Zealand withdrew from the tournament with a shoulder injury after shooting a 6-over 78, including five bogeys and a double bogey that put him at 7-over 223.
Overnight leader Chinarat Phandungsil of Thailand struggled with a 77 and is now tied for 18th.
