Australian David Bransdon and Dutchman Joost Luiten fired six-under-par 64s to share the lead after a weather-interrupted Indonesia Open first round on Thursday.
The pair overcame wet and blustery conditions to take a one-stroke advantage over Britons Philip Golding and Kyron Sullivan, Juan Abbate of Argentina, Chilean Felipe Aguilar, Thai Prayad Marksaeng, Indian Jeev Milkha Singh and Chinese Liang Wenchong.
Australian Scott Hend and Martin Wiegele of Austria were also five under with one hole left to play while South African James Kamte was on the same score with two holes to go.
They are among 42 players who must return to the Cengkareng Golf Club early on Friday to complete their rounds after play was disrupted in the morning.
Bransdon, a regular on the Asian circuit, totalled seven birdies and a single bogey.
"I putted really well, drove the ball well too," he told reporters. "I made four birdies in a row which got me going and put me right up there."
Luiten hit eight birdies offset by bogeys on the 14th and 16th holes.
"It was quite tough with the wind but my putter was pretty hot," said the Dutchman. "I just hit a lot of greens and fairways and gave myself a lot of birdie opportunities."
Asian Tour order of merit winner Liang was particularly happy with his approach play.
"Most of my shots landed close to the pins and I think there are many positives I can take from that," he said.
Holder Mikko Ilonen of Finland began his campaign with a 66 while 2005 winner Thaworn Wiratchant of Thailand carded a 67.
European Ryder Cup stalwarts Darren Clarke and Paul McGinley were among a large group tied on 68 at the $1.2 million event co-sanctioned by the Asian and European tours.
