Felipe Aguilar vaults in to the lead with a 62

Chilean Felipe Aguilar fired eight birdies in a sizzling eight-under-par 62 to burst two strokes clear after the Indonesia Open second round on Friday.

Aguilar gave a blemish-free performance in perfect conditions to finish 13 under on 127 at the Cengkareng Golf Club.

Thailand's Prom Meesawat crammed nine birdies in a 63 to share second place with South African James Kamte (67).

The unheralded Aguilar said he could easily have shot a sub-60 score.

"I don't want to sound egotistical but if I had putted really well today I could have been 13 or 14 under for the round," he told reporters.

"I felt like I was throwing darts at the pins. I probably missed one or two fairways but it was a good round."

Aguilar is yet to win on the European Tour.

"I have the will and I have the game," he said. "I just need to wait for the right week and hopefully it's this one."

Prom had a good day on the greens and made five consecutive birdies on the front nine before bogeys at the 12th and 14th denied him a share of top spot.

"My putting has been very good today, most of my second shots finished close to the pins and I only had to tap them in for birdies," he said.

"I'm feeling very confident about my game."

Austrian Martin Wiegele and Thai Prayad Marksaeng were three off the pace on 130 after matching 65s, one stroke ahead of Indian Jeev Milkha Singh and two in front of Asian Tour order of merit winner Liang Wenchong.

Holder Mikko Ilonen of Finland was on 134 while European Ryder Cup stalwart Darren Clarke finished on 135.

The Indonesia Open is co-sanctioned by the Asian and European tours.
