Oskar Henningsson seals maiden European Tour victory
Sweden’s Oskar Henningsson shot a second consecutive five-under 67 on Sunday to claim his first European Tour victory at the Moravia Silesia Open.
Starting the final round three shots off the pace, the 23-year-old Tour rookie fired six birdies to finish on 13-under 275, two shots ahead of overnight leader Steve Webster and his fellow Briton Sam Little.
Henningsson finished a career-best joint fourth at last week’s Scandinavian Masters in Sweden and Sunday’s 333,330 euro prize quadrupled his career earnings.
“(A tour victory) has been my goal for a long time now. I didn’t think I would already achieve it this year, but I guess I’ll have to set up some new goals now,” Henningsson said.
Webster had taken a one-shot lead into the final day and, although he produced four birdies, he also bogeyed four holes to leave him level on the day.
Spaniard Ignacio Garrido led briefly early on but bogeyed four times on the back nine and tied for fourth with England’s Graeme Storm and Zimbabwe’s Marc Cayeux.
