Ryder Cup heading for Monday finish
The Ryder Cup is set to resume but will have the first Monday finish in its 83-year history.
Officials are opening up the gates of Celtic Manor for fans. Play is scheduled to resume at 1:30 p.m. Sunday (8:30 a.m. EDT) to finish the rest of the team matches. The 12 singles matches are set to begin at 9.05 a.m. (0805 GMT) Monday.
Rain pounded the course early Sunday morning and created small rivers running down some of the fairways. The matches were already seven hours behind because of a waterlogged course at the start of the Ryder Cup.
Six team matches were halted on the front nine by darkness. The Americans have a 6-4 lead, although Europe was leading in all the suspended matches.
