Increase in Masters purse by $90,000 to $3.2 million

Augusta, Georgia. 12th April 1998 - The $3.2 million purse at this year's Masters is the third-highest on the PGA Tour.

The Players Championship, played during the last week of March, and the season-ending Tour Championship, scheduled for Oct. 26-Nov. 1 at East Lake Golf Club, both boast a $4 million purse, with the winner earning $720,000.

The winner of the 1998 Masters will receive $576,000, a $90,000 increase from what Tiger Woods won in 1997.
