5ft 10 ins blonde hair, blue eyes. Enjoys all sports. Was awarded the MBE in 1988. Lists fast cars amongst her hobbies and owns a Ferrari.

Represents Sutton Green Golf Club, Surrey and Maruman. Laura signed a five-year contract with Maruman in 1996 even though the Japanese clubmaker was no longer selling clubs in the UK. She had played the clubs for three years prior to signing the contract. She is also considering playing on the Japanese Tour for a year during her contract with Maruman.

  • 1985 Rookie of the Year and Order of Merit winner. Victory in Belgium Open.
  • Retained Order of Merit in 1986 after four victories including British Women's Open. Also won Greater Manchester Tournament at Haigh Hall with 22-under-par winning score to equal world record set by Nancy Lopez. Equalled same score in 1994 Alpine Australian Open.
  • Won 1987 US Women's Open. For six days Laura was holder of the US and British Opens. Won 3 European tournaments in 1988, 2 LPGA events and 1 in Japan.
  • Equalled her own WPGET record low score with a round of 63 when winning the AGF Biarritz Open.
  • Equalled record low score with record of 62 in the 1991 Rail Charity Golf Classic.
  • Won three points out of three in Europe's Solheim Cup victory over the United States at Dalmahoy in 1992.
  • Represented England in World Cup Team Championship, Taiwan, 1992.
  • Won 1992 Order of Merit for record third time.
