Injury forces Langer out of World Matchplay

Wentworth, England  - Bernhard Langer of Germany has been forced to withdraw from the World Matchplay golf championship at Wentworth this week because of injury. He has been replaced by 1987 and 1990 champion Ian Woosnam.

Langer was himself named last week as a replacement for American Stewart Cink, who withdrew to pursue a place in the U.S. Tour Championship later this month. Langer is suffering a recurrence of a shoulder and neck injury.

Langer also withdrew from the Alfred Dunhill Cup at St Andrews last week.
