ELPGA announce new addition to 1998 schedule

Macclesfield, Cheshire - Europe's women professionala will be heading to Africa for the first time to compete in the new addition to the 1998 tournament schedule, the Marrakesh Palmeraie Open.

The 80,000, 54-hole stroke-play event takes place on 22nd - 24th October sponsored jontly by the Palmeraie Golf Palace and the Moroccan National Tourist Office in association with the Moroccan Golf Federation.

The five star Pameraie Golf Palace, with an 18-hole golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones Snr, is rapidly gaining popularity as a premier golfing destination. The hotel, which sits in 200 hectares of palm trees and landscaped gardens has 300 mini suites and a host of facilities including swimming pools, tennis courts, squash courts, fitness centre and riding stables.

The announcement of the tournament takes the number of events on the ELPGA 1998 schedule to 11 and increases the total prize money on offer to 2.3 million.
