National Car Rental pulls out of English Open sponsorship

National Car Rental, sponsors of the English Open at Marriott Hanbury Manor in June, have decided not to continue their involvement with the 650,000 tournament which was won this year by Lee Westwood.

"We entered into the arrangement in 1998 in order to gain significant exposure for the initial launch of the National Car Rental brand. With our planned expansion throughout Europe of the National brand we are seeking wider opportunities in our priority European markets to develop our customer base," said Geoff Corbett, president and chief operating officer of Republic Industries Automotive Rental Group - Europe.
