Hennie Otto completed his first European Challenge Tour victory when he beat Pello Iguaran of Spain in the playoff Sunday for the Philips Challenge Xacobeo 99 at Golf Club de La Coruna.

The 23-year-old holed a 20-foot birdie putt on the first extra hole after both players finished locked on 10-under-par 278.

Otto's victory lifts him into second place on the Challenge Tour Rankings and ensures him of a card to play on the European Tour next season.

He said: "This victory as it will allow me to play on the European Tour next year, which has been my main objective since I turned professional in 1997.

"I had been hitting the ball very well but not holing anything until I made these very important birdie putts at the 16th and 17th. I made a good par at the last, and it was nice to make another one in the playoff."
