Druce wins by 3 at Victorian Open

MELBOURNE, Australia - Despite shooting a 2-over-par 74 today, Australian Kenny Druce won the Victorian Open by three strokes over fellow Australian Lucas Parsons.

Druce, who started the day with a six-stroke lead, finished with a 13-under 275 total. Parsons shot a 68 to finish at 10-under 278. Tony Carolan shot 66 to finish third at 279.

Amateur Andrew Webster shot 70 to tie for fourth with Robert Allenby (73) at 280.

American Jim Benepe, the 1988 champion, closed with a his second consecutive 75 to finish at 286. Benepe opened the tournament with a 66 to share the first-round lead. He won 1988 Western Open in his first U.S. PGA Tour start, about four months after his victory here, but never won again on the PGA Tour. He recently returned to competition after giving up the game for over two years to sell real estate and life insurance.
