Fasth,
who was on the cut line after the second round made seven birdies to leapfrop
over a crowded leaderboard, to finish one ahead of
Hennie Otto, and two ahead of who shot a final-round 72, and two ahead of three
other players including fellow Swede Adam Mednick, who's 65 was the best round
of the day.
"I
have won from this position many times before," he said. "It is quite comfortable
coming from several shots back. It is more difficult to defend a lead.This
victory, my first since I won the Tour Qualifying School in 1996 and my first
on the Challenge Tour since 1993, will give me a new start. I've had a miserable
year. I tried to play on both the U.S. and European Tours, and it didn't work
out. Then earlier this
year I injured a knee playing on the Challenge Tour in Luxembourg and was out
of action for three months."
Top Briton was Richard
Bland with a 74 for 283 and joint sixth place.
