Cain in first professional title success Marcus Cain secured his first
victory as a professional golfer when he won the Australasian PGA Tour Championship
on Sunday.
Cain, 26, claimed the season-ending event with a closing round
of seven-under-par 65 at the Royal Canberra course.
The Australian's 72-hole
total of 12-under-par 276 was enough to give him a comfortable four-shot margin
over second-placed Paul Gow (68), who finished one stroke clear of a bunch of
five players.
Peter O'Malley faded out of contention with a 78 after leading
the tournament through the first three rounds. The former Scottish Open winner
took a 10 on the par-5 18th to finish tied for 11th after teeing off at the last
in second position.
Jarrod Moseley also tied for 11th place to win the Australasian
Order of Merit, guaranteeing him automatic entry to several major tournaments
including this year's Open and U.S. PGA.
