Carissimi wins on the last hole

Kevin Carissimi finished a stroke ahead of Stephen Scahill to win the BIL Luxembourg Open at the Kikuoka Golf and Country Club.

Carissimi carded a closing 68 to finish at 18-under-par 270. Scahill shot a 67 to finish at 271.

Scahill began the day two shots behind Carissimi but caught up within eight holes. From then on, it was virtually a match-play situation.

A birdie-three at the 396-yard 14th gave Scahill the edge on 17 under, but Carissimi recorded birdies at 15 and 16 to retake the lead. Both parred the 439-yard 17th. Then, at the long, downhill 18th, Carissimi hit his approach into knee high nettles in a hazard while Scahill found the front bunker.

It all pointed to a playoff, but Carissimi recovered to make par. Scahill missed a downhill 12-footer for birdie.
