Paulson
earns second Boise title
Carl Paulson won for the second time in as many starts with a four-shot triumph
at the Nike Boise Open. Paulson, who took last week off after winning the Utah
Classic two weeks ago, shot a five-under 66 on Sunday and finished with a four-day
total of 18- under 266.
Paulson earned a first-prize of $58,500 and has won $126,000 in his last two events.
He had played 83 straight events on the Nike Tour after his win two weeks ago.
"I went home and
sat on the couch and watched television all week," said Paulson. "I didn't pick
up a club for six days. After 83 straight, I figured I was entitled to a week
off." Paulson has
moved to the top of the Nike Tour money list and needs one more victory this year
to earn a "Battlefield Promotion" to the PGA Tour. However, he has earned enough
money this year, $221,771, to guarantee a spot in the top-15 on the money list
and a berth on the PGA Tour next year. "Everything
feels so good right now," said Paulson. "I have been playing well all year, but
I finally put the hammer down in Utah two weeks ago."
Michael Muehr tied for second at 14-under with third-round leader Joel Edwards.
Anthony Painter, Paul Claxton and last week's Tri-Cities Open winner Glen Hnatiuk
tied for fourth at 13-under. |
