Qualifier Willis tops field with
second-round 64 Garrett
Willis fired a 6-under-par 64 Friday to grab a four-shot lead in the second round
of the Nike Greensboro Open.
Willis,
who double-bogeyed the first hole Thursday but finished the first round in second
place at 5-under, opened with another double bogey on the second hole Friday.
But the three-time All-American
at East Tennessee State, one of Monday's qualifiers, birdied five of the first
six holes on the back nine to climb back into contention.
First-round
co-leader Edward Fryatt was among four golfers tied for second after Friday's
round. The others were Steve Haskins, Shaun Micheel and Mike Henderson.
Five others were five shots back,
including Craig Bowden, who also fired a 64 Friday, and first-round co-leader
Mike Grob, who shot a 69.
