Norman's stolen
golf clubs are returnedGreg
Norman got his golf clubs back just in time for the Open. The
man who apparently stole two sets of clubs from Norman's garage last Saturday,
returned them when he realized they were the Australian's tournament clubs, police
said. "I don't think
he knew at the time he'd stolen THE tournament clubs of Greg Norman," Jupiter
Island Police Officer Bill Smith said. "He wasn't a golfer." James
Jankowski, 22, of Hobe Sound, was arrested Wednesday night and charged with grand
theft and violation of probation for swiping the custom-made Cobra clubs. Police
said he had done work on Norman's roof about a week earlier. The
clubs were returned to Norman before he left Tuesday for Scotland to prepare for
the Open, Smith said. "(Jankowski)
panicked and brought them back," Smith said. Norman
said in a statement he was "very pleased to get my tournament clubs back."
Jankowski remained jailed
Thursday without bond in the Martin County Jail. AP
