Gibson fired a seven-under-par 65 and took a three-shot lead after the opening
round of the $225,000 Nike Oregon Classic in Junction City.
Gibson, who finished seventh in last week's Boise Open, fired his best round of
the year to end the round on top.
Craig
Perks, Jim McGovern, Jeff Sanday and Ahmad Dan Bateman are tied for second place
at four-under, while seven others are four shots off the pace.
Jeff Klein, Mike Grob, Chris Starkjohann, Ron Ewing, Dennis Zinkon, Mark Wurtz
and Bill Porter are all at three-under.
Vance Veazey, Marco Dawson, Joe Daley, Shane Bertsch, Jim Johnson, J.J. Abraham,
Paul Claxton, Kevin Johnson, Eric Johnson, Matthew Goggin, John Wilson and Ben
Ferguson are within five shots of Gibson.
