Willis and Gibson tie McGovern for lead

Garrett Willis and Kelly Gibson have joined second-round leader Jim McGovern atop the leaderboard at eight-under par after three rounds of the Nike Tri-Cities Open in Washington.

Willis fired a four-under 68 on Saturday for his share of the lead, while Gibson carded a three-under 69. McGovern managed an even- par 72 in the third round.

Glen Hnatiuk and first-round co-leader Casey Martin are each one shot back at seven-under. J.J. Henry, Tim Petrovic, Steve Haskins, Jerry Foltz and Ren Budde are next at minus-six.

Willis tied for 10th at last year's Tri-Cities Open, while Gibson was the winner of the inaugural Tri-Cities Open in 1991.

McGovern's wild round included six birdies, four bogeys and a double-bogey.

"I'm just happy to be where I'm at and try and play a solid round (Sunday)," said McGovern, who won the 1993 Houston Open on the PGA Tour.

Defending champion Matt Gogel, who is second on the money list this year, is tied for 35th at one-under par after carding an even-par 72 on Saturday.
