Hnatiuk earns one-shot win

Glen Hnatiuk fired a three-under-par 69 on Sunday to earn a one-shot victory at the Nike Tri-Cities Open in Washington. Hnatiuk finished at 10-under par for his first Nike Tour win of the year and the fourth of his career.

Larry Silveira and J.J. Henry tied for second at nine-under, while Tim Petrovic and third-round co-leader Jim McGovern were next at minus-eight.

First-round co-leader Shane Supple, third-round co-leader Kelly Gibson and Steve Haskins tied for sixth at seven-under. Casey Martin, also a first-round co-leader, tied for ninth at minus-six.

Hnatiuk had three runner-up finishes on the Nike Tour this year and strengthened his spot in the top-15 on the money list. The top 15 money winners at the end of the year will earn their PGA Tour cards for 2000.

Garrett Willis, who started the day tied for the lead, struggled to a six-over 78 and finished tied for 24th at two-under.

Defending champion Matt Gogel tied for 29th at one-under.
