Tiger
Woods ripped to the latest record in his incredible season as he became only the
third person to shoot 63 at the World Cup to move five clear of Wales' Philip
Price in the individual event - and take America seven clear in the team event.
The World No 1 went out
in 32 and came back in 31 to finish the third round at -15. Partner Mark O'Meara
scored 67 to leave the States on -23 combine - and well on course for the country's
21st success in the event.
Overnight-leaders Spain could only watch in begrudging admiration as their one-shot
edge was wittled away into seven-shot deficit within a few hours. They had no
answer to Woods, whose three birdies on the front nine turned to four on the way
back, including a quite sensational eagle on the penultimate hole. With O'Meara's
only blot coming at the 18th, when he dropped his first shot of the day, Spain
have barely any hope of catching the pair on Sunday.
Welshman Price is the closest to the runaway leader - but attempting to make up
five shots in one day when Woods is in this kind of form is equally unlikely.
Defending-champions England,
with Mark James and Peter Baker flying the flag, are in respectable sixth spot,
one adrift of Ireland who are at -7 after 74 holes. Sweden sit in fourth, two
shots better off, while Argentina are perhaps the biggest surprise of the week,
alone in third on -10.
