The purse for the Buick Open of $1.5million has attracted a strong field including Tiger Woods, Open Champion Justin Leonard, PGA Champion Mark Brooks, and US Open Champion Ernie Els. Justin Leonard defends the title he won last year, his first tour victory. Also entered are John Daly, Steve Jones, last weeks winner Phil Mickleson, Vijay Singh, Fred Couples, Jim Furyk who set the course record in 1995 with a 10 under par 62, and Steve Elkington, 2nd in the US money list with winnings of $1.2m in 1997.
