Thieves lift $360,000 in U.S. Open tickets

Associated Press

San Francisco, 12th June 1998 - More than 6,000 tickets to this week's U.S. Open , worth as much as $360,000, were stolen from an office at the Olympic Club, where the golf tournament will be played.

Police said at least one burglar got through an unlocked second-story window and made off with two boxes of tickets.

Investigators said they have no suspects. No other items were reported missing.

A United States Golf Association spokesman said security would go through the cumbersome process of checking every ticket next week.
