Ladbrokes make Tiger Woods favourite to win

The Olympic Club, San Francisco, 17th June 1998 - Tiger Woods is Ladbrokes 9/1 favourite for this week's US Open
the biggest price he's been offered at for any tournament since his US Masters victory in 1997.

"Tigermania has waned in the last twelve months - Woods was as low as 3/1 for some tournaments - but not anymore!" Ladbrokes spokesman Ed Nicholson said.

Ladbrokes have been mightily impressed with Colin Montgomerie this season and the Scot is as low as 12/1 to become the first European for 28 years to win the US Open.

"Although Monty has never won a major, he has come closest in the US Open - and we think this represents his best chance yet" Nicholson added.

Early betting news has centered around one of the outsiders, Scott Hoch, who was 40/1 but now finds himself at 25/1 following consistent support this morning.

weekend.
