Burhill Golf Club - Surrey's Premier Golf Destination

August 4th, 2015

If you are looking for one of the best golf experiences in the London area then Burhill is a must. It is the prefect venue for a Society day. Established in 1907 Burhill Golf Club is one of the finest golf venues in Surrey. Nestled in leafy parkland on the outskirts of Walton on Thames, Burhill has two superb 18 hole golf courses, each very different in style, character and golfing challenge.

There are few golf clubs that can offer the choice of two outstanding 18-hole golf courses, let alone two that are so completely different. It makes Burhill the perfect venue for a 36 hole day.

The Old course is a typical Surrey rolling parkland course, designed by Willie Park recognised by his peers as the first true genius of golf course architecture. It is not overly long by today's standards at 6479 yards, it is nonetheless a thoroughly enjoyable track. The smooth greens are extremely quick and have some treacherous borrows which often deceive even the low handicap golfer. Opened in 1907, it has retained its charm with some of the original features blending well with recent course changes, which have ensured today's longer hitters are still well tested.

This remarkable championship course opened in 2001. Its large, fast greens are well protected by strategic bunkering, not to mention a number of water hazards including the River Mole which meanders through the course. At just under 7000 yards from the back tees, it doesn't lack for length. The par 3 18th is the feature hole - played over the River Mole in front of the beautiful clubhouse is the feature hole that can jangle the nerves of the most experienced of golfers. There is a good reason it has been host to the Europro Tour for the last 5 years.

In addition the golf practice facilities are second to none and are home of the Surrey County Team.

Burhill Golf Club has a thriving membership and welcomes new members to join. Its magnificent facilities also make Burhill a popular corporate golf day and charity golf day venue. With outstanding golf facilities, the breathtaking mansion house, first class service, and cuisine from an award winning chef.

The Green is Burhill's main restaurant and is open to the public seven days a week. With contemporary interior design, stunning views of the New Course and River Mole and a wide selection of home-cooked dishes, The Green is a wonderful place to eat.

The stunning Georgian mansion house at Burhill Golf Club is a magnificent setting for all manner of occasions, with its luxurious furnishings and stunning views over the golf courses. The Club has six function rooms available, varying in size and character.

Whether you are hosting a cocktail party, private dinner, conference or wedding, Burhill Golf Club can accommodate your requirements and make it a very special occasion.

Burhill Golf Club is also committed to developing the skills of junior golfers. The Golf Academy operates regular weekend classes and school holiday ‘camps' which are very popular for children aged 5 to 12 years of age. In addition to these group classes, individual coaching is available for junior golfers.

The Golf Club has a very active junior section supported by the membership as a whole. Collectively the members of the Club and Burhill Golf Club as a company fund the Burhill Junior Development Programme, which was introduced to nurture talented junior members at Burhill.

For golf, golf club membership, society days or an event, Burhill is the premier golf destination in Surrey and you should definitely give it a visit.
