Half Moon Introduces Night Golf

The golf experts at Half Moon – the luxury resort in Montego Bay, Jamaica - have developed a novel concept – golf under starlight – for anyone up to the challenge and the fun.

The resort's par-72, 18-hole championship golf course takes on a new look when the sun goes down and golfers tee up for the Three Hole Challenge. With an illuminated fairway, foursomes are given two lit golf balls and a torch to tee off for an exciting evening on the greens.

Putting competitions are open to golfers of all levels. Players are provided one lit ball to test their putting skills on the new 9-hole putting green to see the first to reach the illuminated flagstick and cup. Then there is the Big Break Challenge that requires players test their marksmanship by taking aim at a lit target of either a flagstick or drum.

Half Moon has recently completed US$2 million renovation work on the golf course to provide improvements for both dedicated and casual golfers.

Dubbed ‘one of the best walking courses in the Caribbean' the course now features newly aligned, multiple tee complexes as well as repositioned fairway and greenside bunkers. The two-year renovation work was undertaken under the guidance of renowned golf course architect, Roger Rulewich, who was mindful to maintain the course's integrity of respecting the natural flow of the land while modernising the course.

The renovation work also saw improvements made to the Caribbean's only David Leadbetter Golf Academy – which is attached to the Half Moon golf course. Rulewich laser-leveled a new teaching tee adding a custom-designed short game area that allows players to practice chipping, pitching and bunker shots.
